Bay City, Mich. January 6 — Construction gangs are now working 10 miles east of the city limits on the new Handy Bros.’ road into the Thumb district, and it is said that Akron will be reached by a completed road by the middle of next summer. The exact route for the extension beyond Akron has not been chosen and lies between Cass City and Unionville in one direction and Caro In the other. Handy Bros.’ enormous coal leases in that section of Tuscola County give them practically half the right of way required to reach Caro, as all their leases carry a right of way clause.
Material is now being assembled for the bridge across the Quanicassee River, but it will not be taken out until spring when it can be transported on the new road.
