Ann Marie Casey was born October 8, 1944 the first child of William & Loretta (Buechler) Casey in St. Louis MO. Ann was called to her heavenly rest on May 15, 2014 with her family by her side.
Ann Marie graduated from T. L. Handy High School in 1962 going on to Midland Hospital School of Licensed Practical Nursing. Upon graduation in 1966 Ann Marie was a dedicated, devoted and loving LPN for 40 years at MidMichigan Medical Center, where she was known as “Casey”. She cared for generations of post-surgical patients and was a respected colleague serving on the Michigan Board of Nursing from 1974 to 1981 and was the past president of the Michigan Practical Nurses Association. Ann Marie’s hobbies included cross stitching, baking cookies and cinnamon rolls. She loved to cook, browsing her many cookbooks to find new recipes. Ann Marie loved to tell stories – especially about her second family – her co-workers at MidMichigan Medical Center. She was an avid reader. She loved her travels with her mom, which started in 1970 to Hawaii and years following she visited Switzerland, Austria, Ireland, Germany, Spain and went on several cruises.
Ann Marie is survived by her brothers Dennis Casey, Albert (Joy) Casey and George Casey along with her sister Kathleen Casey Kloha. Also surviving are her nieces & nephews, Steven Casey, Michael Casey, Greta (William) Arndt, Garth (Amanda) Casey, Brian Casey, Amy (David) Brandt Darrin Waldie, Sarah Waldie, Hans (Kelley) Kloha, Melissa (Adam Mitrzyk) Kloha along with 11 “greats” (nieces & nephews) which she cherished, loved and adored. Ann Marie was preceded in death by her parents, sister-in-laws Gloria Casey & Suzanne Casey along with nephew, Daniel Casey and Godson, Gene Buechler.
Funeral Services for Ann Marie will take place at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday May 20, 2014 from Beaver Zion Lutheran Church, 1556 W. Seidlers Road Auburn. Pastor Seth Hemme will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Ann Marie’s Family will receive friends at the Ware-Smith Woolever funeral home 1200 West Wheeler Street, Midland on Monday, May 19, 2014 from 2-8 P.M. and at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 A.M. until time of service.
