Karen Lianne Selle, aged 66, of Grand Rapids passed away on November 21, 2020 at Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital. Throughout the years, Karen faced her numerous medical issues with strength, faith and dignity. Karen was born in Bay City on March 7, 1954 to Walter & Alvera (Neumeyer) Selle. After graduating from TL Handy High School, Karen earned her masters degree from Ferris State University. She spent her career working in management for medical offices in both Ann Arbor and Grand Rapids before retiring 4 years ago.
A woman of faith, Karen was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church for many years before joining Trinity Lutheran Church. She held leadership positions, sang in the choirs and volunteered her time and help for various groups. Karen loved the outdoors. In the summer her passion was being on or near the water and sailing. In the winter she enjoyed many ski outings with the Grand Rapids Ski Club. However, some of her greatest memories were made while enjoying the peacefulness of camping with her best friend, David Moon. Karen cherished her friends and built many lifelong relationships. Karen is survived by her brother Kris (Kristine) Selle; her sister-in-law Jean Selle; her nieces and nephews: Drs. Rachel (Eric) McLaughlin currently working as missionary doctors in Burundi, Africa; Eric (Haidee) Selle of White Cloud, MN; and Jason (Rachel) Selle of Edwardsburg as well as many other relatives. Karen was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Ken Selle and her friend and soulmate, David Moon. Cremation has taken place and burial will be in Bay City, MI. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
In Karen’s memory, the family suggests a donation to the American Cancer Society.
