Lawrence G. Cooper, 71, of Traverse City and formerly of Bay City, died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014. He was born on June 25, 1942, in Pontiac, Mich., the son of Lawrence Edmond and Irma Alberta (Day) Cooper. He graduated from T.L. Handy High School in Bay City and Ferris State College. Lawrence worked as a Pharmacist with Monitor Pharmacy in Bay City and St. Mary’s Hospital in Saginaw and The Prescription Shop in Traverse City until his retirement.
He enjoyed sports, gardening, reading, writing and cooking. Lawrence is survived by his wife, Leann (Ruegsegger) Cooper; they were married on Sept. 24, 1966, in Bay City; children, Tonna (Rich) Patterson of Okemos and Chad Cooper of Traverse City; granddaughters, Paris and Ava Patterson; and brother, Ronald (Ann) Cooper of Bay City. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Irma Cooper; and his sister, Barbara Carso. Cremation has taken place. Plans for a Memorial Service are underway and will be announced at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
