Lois Marie (Sinn) Pennell, 73, of Bay City, our selfless, caring, empathetic, and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 after complications due to COVID-19.
Lois was born in Bay City on February 19, 1947, the daughter of the late Fred A. and Marjorie (Wanless) Sinn. Lois graduated from T.L. Handy High School, class of 1965, and went on to work as a medical transcriptionist at the old Bay City General Hospital.
Through mutual friends, Lois met the love of her life, Tim Pennell. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on March 20, 1971. Together they shared over 50 years, three wonderful children, and countless memories. Lois was an exceptional homemaker and always made sure everyone was taken care of. As the children grew, she worked as a teacher’s aide at Immanuel Lutheran and later went back to work at McLaren Bay Region as a medical transcriptionist. Lois was devoted to her family and especially her grandchildren, making sure to never miss a sports game or musical event, always making sure to have her camera on hand to document it. She enjoyed creating beautiful scrapbooks full of memories that are now kept as precious treasures to the family. You could often find her making cards, tending to her garden, golfing, taking nature walks, and reading. Lois absolutely adored animals of all kinds, especially her current rescue cat, Lovey. She was a longtime member and volunteer at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Lois’ favorite Bible verse was: “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God.” Romans 8:28 She lived her life according to these words. Lois’ kind and compassionate ways will be missed so very dearly and lovingly remembered for generations to come.
Lois leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband, Tim; their children, Kristin (Don) Haynes of Essexville, Brad Pennell of Bay City, and Jeff (Wendy) Pennell of Nashville, TN; most beloved grandchildren, Madeline, Chloe, and Emma Haynes, and Lincoln Pennell; brother-in-law, Gene Niedzwiecki; sisters-in-law, Millie Sinn and Mary Pennell; best friend since childhood, Joy Kusmierz, along with several nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to her parents, Lois was welcomed home to heaven by her infant granddaughter, Lauren Haynes; siblings, Jerry Sinn, Fred Sinn, Bill (Nancy) Sinn, Dave Sinn, and Marilyn (Al) Adamczyk; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Bev (Carl) Doan, Sharon (Gary) Bishop, Penny (Ron) Nuechterlein, Terry Pennell, and Mary Niedzwiecki.
