Neil Robert Ringle, age 98 years, died December 6, 2012 at Brookdale Senior Living-Clare Bridge. Neil was born in Lansing, MI on January 17, 1914. His early life was spent in Hillsdale, MI where he graduated cum laude from Hillsdale High School and College. He also had a Masters Degree from the University of Michigan. He was preceded in death on September 3, 1992 by his wife, the former Hope Fowler, whom he married in 1938. He was also preceded by his parents Clarence and Myrtle Ringle, a brother Cloyse and a sister Kathleen. He is survived by his son Barry of Toledo, OH, his daughter Renee Johnston and her husband Harry of Rochester Hills, a granddaughter Christie Dudenhoefer and husband Rob, 3 great grandsons, Simon, Philip and Benjamin and 2 nieces Susan and Sally.
Mr. Neil Robert Ringle taught high school English for 46 years, 40 at Handy High School. He belonged to the NEA, MEA, BARSP, the Community Concert Board, Friends of the Library and was also past president of the Michigan Council of Teachers of English. He was a church organist most of his adult life, having played 36 years at the First United Methodist Church. He retired from this position and teaching in1 983.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Deborah Thomas will officiate. The family will greet friends on Friday, December 21, 2012 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Penzien-Steele Funeral Home and on Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until service time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association or McLaren Hospice.
