Ronald C. Richards, Age 57, died June 1, 1999. Born March 26, 1942 in Bay City, where he was raised and graduated from T. L. Handy High School (1960). He received a BS Degree from Michigan State University and a MS Degree from Eastern Michigan University.
He served with the U.S. Air Force from 1966-1970, in Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam and served with the Michigan National Guard from 1973-1979. He was employed by General Motors as a Supplier Quality Engineer for Small Car Group. He also taught at Lansing Community College from 1975-1991.
He enjoyed coaching softball for Junior Olympics and High School and enjoyed fishing, playing guitar and computers and was a member of the American Society for Quality Control. Surviving are his wife, Plearnpit (Pit); 2 daughters, Melanee (James) Oegema of Lansing and Lena Richards of Toledo, OH; I son, Jay Richards of East Lansing; 1 granddaughter, Eleanor; parents, Vance and Janis Richards of Arizona, formerly of Bay City; sister, Beverly (Frank) Solik of Kalamazoo; 1 nephew, Curt (Therese) Winter of Lake Orion. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 4, 11 a.m. at River Terrace Christian Reformed Church, 1509 River Terrace, East Lansing with the Rev. Dr. Clayton Libolt, -Pastor, officiating and Military services provided by the Edwin J. Leyanna VFW Post #671, DeWitt.
The family will receive friends at the Gorsline-Runciman Co. East Chapel, 1730 E. Grand River Ave., East Lansing Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Those desiring may make contributions to the East Lansing Amateur Softball Club (ELASC) in memory of Mr. Richards.
