Wendell Barrow “Wendy” of Essexville, Michigan. Mr. Barrow, age 84 years, passed away January 27, 2010 at Brian’s House-Bay. He was born in Adrian, Michigan on April 20, 1925 to the late Harold and Olive (Bloomer) Barrow. Wendy retired after 41 years from the Bay City Public Schools where he was the Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds. He had a special place in his heart for T.L. Handy High School where he spent most of his career.
He was a member of St. James Catholic Church and the Great Lakes Maritime Museum, as well as being very active with the Boy Scouts of America. On May 5, 1951, he married the former Eileen M. Wittkopp in Bay City and she preceded him in death on March 26, 2009. Survivors include three children: Wendy (Gene) Rhynard, Sheri (Jan) Jankowiak and Mike Barrow; two grandchildren: Kevin Tovey and Kara Tovey, currently serving with the United States Marine Corp.; and three great – grandchildren: Samara, Kevin and Maden. He was preceded in death by a special aunt, Mary Bloomer. Funeral Liturgy will be on Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church. The Rev. Fr. Robert J. DeLand will preside with Rite of Committal following at St. Patrick’s Mausoleum.
