Eugene V. Stack, age 88, died Friday, January 22, 2021 at Olive Branch Assisted Living in Perry, MI. He was born on June 28, 1932 to the late Casper and Margaret (Zielinski) Stachowiak in Bay City. Eugene graduated from T.L. Handy High School and served proudly in the U.S. Army in Korea during the Korean War. He was a longtime member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish-St. Stanislaus Catholic Church and was a member of St. James Knights of Columbus Council. Eugene retired from Dow Chemical Company-Plastic Lined Pipe Division in 1992. During his employment at Dow, he was awarded 7 U.S. Patents. He enjoyed woodworking, spending 25 years at their cabin up north and being with his family.
Surviving Eugene are his wife of 65 years, Geraldine; four children: Mary (Timothy) O’Neill, Steven (Jennifer) Stack, Andrew (Jeanine) Stack and Christopher (Kim) Stack; eight grandchildren: Kelly O’ Neill, Matthew (Krista) Stack, Kristy O’Neill, Elizabeth Stack, XanDer Stack, Victoria Stack, XanTh (Samantha) Stack and Kevin (Jasmine) O’Neill; five great-grandchildren: Oliver, Elliott, Theodore and Sullivan Stack, and Lena O’Neill; several nieces or nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Pawlak; brothers, Raymond and Albert Stack.
The Funeral Mass will be take place at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, January 29, 2021 at Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish, St. Stanislaus Kostka Church with Fr. Richard M. Filary presiding. The Rite of Committal will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Kawkawlin with Military Honors under the auspices of the Bay Area Veterans Council and U.S. Army. Visiting hours with the family are at church only on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass. Due to current health concerns, social distancing and facial coverings will be observed.
