Gail Irene Shaw, age 67, of Kalamazoo died March 1, 2017 in Kalamazoo. Gail was born March 2, 1949 in Bay City, the daughter of Norman and Grace (Piggott) Shaw. She graduated from TL Handy High School; received her Bachelor degree from Western Michigan University and her Master’s degree from Saginaw Valley. For many years, Gail taught English in and around the Bay City and Vassar area where she finished her career at Wolverine Humane Services.

Gail will always be remembered as fiercely independent, open minded, strong, witty, intelligent, courageous, eccentric, self-sacrificing, and loving. She traveled the world and accomplished all that she set her mind to. She enjoyed the outdoors, music, and classic literature. She lived a full and vibrant life that reflected her spirit.

Gail is survived by her daughter Matilda Shaw and sisters Barbra Kreis (Russ Kreis) and Bobbie Stratton (Tom Stratton).
