James “Jim” Frances Fisk, 81, of Bay City, our positive, happy, and humorous husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend passed away on the afternoon of Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at home, with his family by his side. James Fisk was born on December 17, 1934 in Saginaw to the late James Alfred “A.J.” Fisk and Frances (Aldrich) Fisk. He graduated from T.L. Handy High School in 1955 and married Sandra Benkert, in 1959. Jim worked and retired from Dow Chemical in Midland as a pipefitter and served for several years as a union committeeman for Local 12075. Throughout the years, James Fisk was an accomplished sailor, chess player, and he loved music. He passed his love of music and dancing onto his daughters, and his love of chess to his grandchildren.
James Fisk is survived by his wife Sandra (Benkert) Fisk. He was the proud father of Jamie Fisk of Bay City, Tracy (John) LeTourneau of East Lansing, and Jody Fisk of Traverse City. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Jessica (Paul) Reslock, Rachel LeTourneau, Stephanie LeTourneau, and Justin Mattis; siblings, Cynthia Smith, Pamela Hawley, Monte Hawley, and Mercedes Ciolek; lifelong best friend, Jerry Neering, and countless others with whom he shared great times. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings Mark Hawley and Susan Hawley.
Jim’s family will be present to receive visitors on Saturday, August 6, 2016 from 11:00 AM until the time of his 3:00 PM Celebration of Life at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 955 N. Pine Rd., Hampton Twp. A Celebration of Life Reception will follow in The Wesley Room at Skorupski’s. Private interment will be held in Great Lakes National Cemetery. The entire family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to Heartland Hospice for their compassionate care. Memorial contributions in memory of Jim may be directed to Heartland Hospice.
