Kathleen M. (Gillard) Skornia, 50, of Bay City, passed away peacefully Friday, Sept. 1, 2006, at her residence. Daughter of the late Bernard and Germaine (Mullins) Gillard was born on July 7, 1956, in Bay City. She married Joseph Skornia in St. Boniface Church on June 19, 1992; he survives her. Kathy was a graduate of TL Handy High School in 1974 and Michigan State University in 1992. She retired from the Dow Corning Corp. and was a member of St. Boniface Church. Kathy enjoyed sewing, spending time with her family and friends camping, kayaking, and walking on the beach.
Surviving besides her husband, Joseph, are her five children, Christina (Robert) Morris II, Bernard Malenfant, Stephen (Ana) Malenfant II, Andrea (fiancé, Troy Shields) Malenfant and Tabitha Skornia; four grandchildren, Amiah Marie Morris, Cody Jeffrey Malenfant, Isabelle Rose and Grace Lily Malenfant; five brothers, James, William (Gloria), Michael (Karen), Richard (MaryBeth) and Robert (Tammie) Gillard, all of Bay City; and many nieces and nephews. Kathy was predeceased by a son, Anthony Luke Malenfant.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2006, at 10 a.m. from The Church of St. Boniface, Bay City.
Friends may call at the Ambrose Funeral Home, 1200 Garfield Ave., Bay City, today from 2 to 9 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday after 9 a.m. A Vigil Service for Kathy will be this evening at 7 p.m. from the funeral home.
