Karnath, Lorraine T. “Lori” Midland, Michigan and Largo, Florida Lorraine T. “Lori” Karnath, of Midland, MI and Largo, FL, our mother and sister, fought a courageous battle and is now resting peacefully.
She passed away on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater, FL, age 78. The daughter of the late Adolph and Nellie (Abdella) Rugenstein, she was born on January 11, 1938 in Bay City. Lori was a graduate of T.L. Handy High School and Delta College. She was the Librarian for over 30 years in the Technical Library at Dow Corning. In her later years, Lori worked for fun at Walgreens in both Midland and Florida. For the past 19 years she made her winter home in Largo, FL. Lori was very proud to have been appointed as the first female Post Commander of the Saginaw Bay Power Squadron.
Lori is survived by her two daughters, Sheri Kuch of Bay City and Tina Karnath of Midland; a brother, Al (Rita) Rugenstein of Bay City; a sister-in-law, Jane Rugenstein of Pinconning; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and also many dear friends in both Michigan and Florida. Besides her parents, Lori was also preceded in death by two brothers, Ed (Jan) Rugenstein and Don Rugenstein; her son-in-law, Doug Kuch; and a special nephew, Ed Rugenstein, Jr.
Come celebrate Lori’s life at her Funeral Service which will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Officiating will be Robert C. Rugenstein. Private interment will be in Fremont Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. A Service of Remembrance will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Autism Society of America or to the wishes of the family.
