Mr. Michael Brian McKellip, age 68, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday morning, June 7, 2020. The son of the late Vern and Dorothy (Sobecki) McKellip, he was born on May 18, 1952 in Bay City. Mike graduated from T.L. Handy High School and went on to serve his country with the U.S. Army. He started playing guitar at age 14 with his father and over the years became well known as an accomplished musician, playing and recording with many bands, most recently Kruze Kontrol. Mike was also an avid chess player.

Mike is survived by his two sons, Brad McKellip of Essexville and Paul (Lisa) McKellip of Bay City; his fiancé, Diana Powell; a sister, Marilea (Nick) Zavadin; six brothers, Harold (Teri) McKellip, Mark (Sandy) McKellip, Jim (Linda) McKellip, Pat (Mari) McKellip, Bill (Rhonda) McKellip and Jack McKellip; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mike was also preceded in death by a sister, Margaret McKellip; and a brother, Robert McKellip.

A private Funeral Service will take place at the Trahan Funeral Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Joseph Atchinson. Military Honors will be conducted by the Bay County Veterans Council. Memorial contributions may be directed to the wishes of the family. Visiting hours will be on Sunday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Due to the current health concerns and gathering limitations of 10 people, social distancing will be observed.
