Mr. David B. Haberland, of Bay City, passed away following a lengthy illness early Sunday morning, December 14, 2014 at The Carriage House of Bay City, age 84. David graduated from T.L. Handy High School and served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Bay City Chevrolet in 1992. David was an active member of the American Legion Post #18 and the American Legion 40/8 Voiture 690. He devoted many hours helping local veterans and for several years was the driver for the American Legion Train.
On August 24, 1957 David married the former Judith Ann Bomya and she survives him along with their three children, Russell Haberland of Bay City, Kimberly (Mike) Quinn of Midland and Dawn Wakefield of Bay City; seven grandchildren, Russell II, Jon, Crystal, Joseph, Christopher, Jeremy and Joshua; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Lou (Joe) Doan; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, David was also preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Ann (Ollie) Brozewski and Jean (Norman) Deary.
A Military Honors Service will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at the American Legion Post #18, 700 Adams St., followed by a luncheon and fellowship until 4:00 p.m. Private inurnment will be in Floral Gardens Cemetery. For those who so desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Bay County Veterans Council. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc.
