Mr. Eugene Francis Hebert, age 78, passed away suddenly at his residence on Saturday evening, July 18, 2020. The son of the late Francis Joseph and Edna Anna (Schnell) Hebert, he was born on July 30, 1941 in Bay City. Eugene was a graduate of T.L. Handy High School and then went on to serve in the U.S. Army Reserves. He was an electrician for 33 years at Bay City Chevrolet / Powertrain, retiring in 1992, and was a member of U.A.W. 362. Eugene was a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish. He liked to tend to his home and yard and truly enjoyed spending time at the family cabin in Gladwin County.
On February 20, 1965 Eugene was united in marriage to the former Sandra Lynn Wyzgowski and she survives his passing along with their four children, Deborah (James) Perz of Midland and their children, Vincent, Benjamin, Jessica and Grace; Connie (Mark) Kazewych of Keller, TX and their children, Daniel and Damien; Steven (Jodie) Hebert of Essexville and their children, Mia, Madeline, Victor (Melissa), children Jocelyn and Bryce, and Gabriel (Kristen), children Elliot and Daphne; and Brian Hebert of San Diego, CA. Eugene is also survived by a brother, David Hebert and his special friend Kathy; brothers and sisters-in-law, Beverly Luczak, Arthur (Michelle) Wyzgowski, Larry Krugielki and Sharon Wyzgowski; his good friend Harold Sauer; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Eugene was also preceded in death by a brother, Dennis Hebert; his sister, Nancy Hebert; a brother-in-law, Terry Wyzgowski; and two sisters-in-law, Mary Lee Krugielki and Bonnie Scott.
The Funeral Mass will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 24, 2020 at Our Lady of Peace Parish – St. Mary’s Church. Fr. John Sarge will preside. The Rite of Committal with entombment will follow at Elm Lawn Park Mausoleum. Mr. Hebert will lie instate at the church on Friday after 10:00 a.m. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Our Lady Peace Parish. Visiting hours will be at the Trahan Funeral Chapel on Thursday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Due to the current health concerns and gathering limitations, social distancing will be observed.
