John F. Steinhoff of Bay City, Michigan passed away Friday, June 11, 2010, at Brian’s House of Bay City, surrounded by family at the age of 63 after an eight month battle with pancreatic cancer. The son of the late DeWayne G. and Virginia (Hall) Steinhoff, John was born in Bay City on June 16, 1946. He married the former Ellen Mahler; she survives him. John served with the U.S. Army Reserve. He retired from Delphi in 2006 after many years of service and was a member of U.A.W. Local 699. John enjoyed spending time with his family and will be dearly missed. He graduated from T.L. Handy High in 1964.
Left to cherish his memory besides his loving wife Ellen are his children Stephanie (John) Trompeter, Heather (Mark Seymour) Ososki, Richard (Joy Eason) Steinhoff, Megan (Jeff) Pashak, and Ronald (Michelle Grzegorczyk) Mahler; his grandchildren Luke, Noah, and Andy Trompeter, Nathan, Colin, Griffin, and Ethan Ososki, Jaxen Pashak, and Brianna Mahler; his sisters and brothers LaDoris (Kip) Fuller, Carol Sylvester, Joyce (Lester) Behmlander, Judy (Ervin) Kuch, Sandra (Don) Hughes, Sally (Dan) Sylvester, DeWayne (Sharon) Steinhoff, and Richard (Joanne) Steinhoff; his godson Bob Hughes; several sisters- and brothers-in-law; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by his stepfather Frank Shimunec, and his brother-in-law Lyle Sylvester.
