Nioka Ginger (Anderson) Nichols Beloved mother and grandmother passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at Select Specialty Hospital. Age 69 years. The daughter of the late Dewey and Bella (Dore) Anderson, Nioka was born on March 29, 1945 in Bay City, Michigan. She graduated from T.L. Handy High School in 1963.
She married John D. Nichols on December 11, 1970. He predeceased her on December 11, 1994. Nioka was a former member of Holy Family Catholic Church and its choir. In her younger years, Nioka and her family were avid travelers. She enjoyed her soap operas, working on crafts, her feline companions, but most of all she was very active in her grandchildren’s lives. Surviving are three daughters, Tana Nichols, Saginaw; Gabrielle Nichols, Saginaw; Angelique (Tim) Rooney, Bay City; three grandchildren, Austin, Vincent and Aiden; her siblings, James (Norene) Anderson, Rosella Nietzke, Jerry (Judy) Anderson, Wave Williams, Avon Anderson; many nieces and nephews. Nioka was preceded in death by her two sisters and one brother, Agnes Foucault, George Anderson and Ione Williams.
A Memorial Service will take place at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, March 13, 2015 at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd., (between Shattuck and McCarty). Friends may call at the funeral home where the family will be present on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Amazing Grace Animal Rescue c/o 3365 Freeland Road.
